Numerologist Dita taught me how to calculate the personal year and determine what awaits in that year - its predisposition and mood. It was a new, interesting experience, and moreover one grounded in the mathematical approach I find close to heart. Here is how it is calculated.
Today, on the last day of the year, I baked gingerbread in rabbit and apple shapes. But the result was so many rabbits (they are known to multiply rather well :) ) that a bright idea came to me: make a gingerbread garland - a decoration for the kitchen window. As a result, the sweetly spiced gingerbread scent that has now filled the whole apartment will linger with us a little longer.
On my name day I received warm and affectionate greetings from Silvija. This time the email attachment was filled with and warmed by the Mexican sun. It turns out Silvija is currently working in the Mexican city of Cancún as a tour guide. The photographs come from Xcaret Mexico Park.
Collecting matchboxes and selling them online, founding an association for research into anomalous phenomena, creating a typing speed measurement tool, making an art installation from burnt-out light bulbs, and so on. Sometimes, seeing something created in this way, one wants to exclaim - what mushrooms has he been eating?!
Every year, and this year is no exception, I make handmade gifts for friends and colleagues. This year they will be gifts in jars. The idea came to me to create themed jars that would serve both as gift packaging and later as storage containers around the home. I will share the recipes for seven gift jars, though there are many more ideas.
Of note was the fact that the Riga Free Port has a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), meaning that companies with that status enjoy an 80% discount on real estate tax. Discounts are also available on income tax, while dividends transferred to companies registered in offshore jurisdictions are taxed at 0%.
December belongs to Ziemeļnieks. There is frost already, snow and greyness alternate with insensible white, but people have not yet forgotten autumn's generosity, the orange of pumpkins, the red of apples, the roundness of cabbage heads. There is still plenty of everything, abundance of everything, and one can celebrate the solstice. Ziemeļnieks' poetry can be read at length, it is so melodic - but I wish to recall just one poem that is, in my view, timeless.
Recent events connected with the collapsed Zolitūde Maxima shopping centre, and especially the way in which representatives of state power and local government present, conceal and interpret them, involuntarily prompted reflections that go considerably deeper than an answer to the trivial question of who is to blame. If one looks at history, it is nothing unusual in Russia for some apartment block to be blown up and in the course of the "investigation" it emerges that the guilty parties were Chechens or Caucasians.
Very soon the festive waiting period - Advent - will begin. This year we'll start counting down this Sunday, 1 December. I've prepared the IINUU Life Wisdom Advent Calendar with 24 windows, each hiding a piece of life wisdom, an insight or a thought. As we wait for the holidays, we'll reveal them one by one and enrich ourselves!
The value of a human life. However oddly this may sound in this sad moment, in a state the value of every person has been calculated. Including the value of children and elderly people. State men and women never speak of this aloud, but such calculations possibly serve as the basis for many decisions. Although emotions are the only thing each of us feels acutely and truly, a state cannot be governed on the basis of emotions alone...
