In early youth he often regards girls as untouchable objects of worship. It can happen that his own wife becomes his first sexual partner, and that until the wedding he had not fully come to terms with either his sexual potency or his desires. He has a tendency to excessively idolise his partner and to overvalue her good qualities, owing to a lack of opportunities for comparison.
Although yesterday the rather unfriendly fine drizzle prevented us from fully enjoying all the festival events, we did attend several of them, and it was interesting - aerobatic display flights, a puppet procession, a retro car parade, an artisans' market, a show at the Small Guild, an open house day at the Russian Drama Theatre, and of course the fireworks.
Following the famous New Year's address by then-Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis, in which he called on the Latvian people to huddle together like penguins to overcome hardship, this allegory caught on remarkably well among the public. We sent an email to Riga Zoo asking them to shed light on the matter of penguins in Latvia, and received a reply...
I read the new Paulo Coelho book "Brida" (Jāņa Roze publishing house, 2010). The author did not disappoint. I am glad I bought it. A story about a year in the life of an Irish girl that changed her view of the world, its order and herself. A story about the search for one's Other Half and the development of inner Gifts.
We discovered the Ulmale (Pinni) Sacrificial Stone, at which the ancestors once gathered. A place not easy to find, and not so much mystical itself as the stone with its bowl-shaped hollow of about 60 cm in diameter. The accumulated water looked a menacing black. Although there is a belief that it heals, instinctively there was no desire to dip one's hands in it.
We celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary this year at Lake Usma, in a quiet, secluded spot nestled in forest and water - SPA HOTEL USMA. You can stay in one of the hotel's twelve rooms or in a camping cabin; we chose the former. We had no intention of trying various SPA treatments, simply wanting to enjoy the warm weather, nature and solitude. I should say upfront that for lovers of active recreation and loud parties, it might get quite dull here - there really isn't much to do. The presence of Lake Usma offered only evening swims and morning catamaran rides.
This year we visited Madona for the third summer running, where the Exotic Dance Festival took place on the afternoon of 31 July at the culture house. It must be said that with each year the event becomes more organised, more varied, and better attended. Alongside the traditional belly dance choreographies such as oriental, saidi, and tribal, original pieces and fusions of various styles were on display. Several Gypsy dance performances and improvisations with Spanish, Moroccan, Brazilian, and Indian dance styles.
Sometimes his behaviour resembles that of a driver of a small-engined car who wants at all costs to overtake every other vehicle. He tends to experience a morbid jealousy, born of unconscious fear that his partner might meet a man who could give her such emotional pleasure that Leo would no longer be able to satisfy her.
It is often said that for a Turk, trading is one popular national sport - this summer we were convinced of it one hundred percent. We visited and shopped at two markets in Istanbul - the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market (Egyptian Bazaar).
Yesterday we discovered a lovely cinema where you can truly enjoy a film, and I want to recommend it to you. Being a fan of vampire films, I couldn't miss the new film „The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" (2010). This time, drawn in by a chance advertisement, we headed to cinema „KinoLora", located in the „Šokolāde" shopping centre in Sigulda. Just a half-hour drive from Riga on the Vidzeme highway. We liked everything - from the friendly staff to the infinitely comfortable leather sofas for each viewer. Enough space to stretch your legs forward and set down a handbag or umbrella. No elbow-jostling with your neighbour, no craning over the heads of the row in front. Comfort we truly appreciated. You could almost forget you were watching a film in a cinema rather than on your sofa at home.
