Three weekends I attended wet felting classes at "Svētku darbnīca" in the delightful Kalnciema Quarter in Pārdaugava. I discovered what can be made from initially not-so-appealing wool roving and soapy water, and became genuinely hooked on creating various felted pieces.
From a polite phrase, you can infer the mood of the person asking. For example, "How's it coming [work]?" suggests that the questioner still can't decide whether to begin some process; while the laconic "How's it going?" is nothing other than a wish to pass the conversational baton to someone else - or simply having nothing to say.
A film for connoisseurs, in which an extraordinarily successful combination of visual and sonic imagery is revealed. It draws you in not through any particularly gripping plot, but through music, rhythms and the depiction of subtle feelings. The story exists outside of place and outside of time. This house and these people could be anywhere where they were fated to draw closer and sense a kindred spirit.
Expressions of charity can be very diverse. Ranging from selflessly helping to push a vehicle stuck in a snowdrift. To a very complete devotion to serving others. This year winter has been a proper one. Although I must say, winter is not my favourite season - the cold doesn't inspire any kind of active activity.
