The Molėtai Observatory. A 40 m tall tower with a telescope room. At the top on the footbridge, with the naked eye in good weather one can see within a 30 km radius. In the basement an ethnocosmology museum, established only in 1990. The museum's collections include ancient calendars, audio and video materials about the interaction between humanity and the Universe. Here one can also see a star being born.

What do we know and what stereotypes never stop following us when we utter the word - Moscow? I, as a proper post-Soviet person, saw Moscow in childhood almost every evening on television screens, I can still infallibly recognise the sound of the Kremlin chimes, I know it is large - and back then it seemed distant and unreachable.
We set off on Saturday fairly early in the morning. The day was sunny, the skies clear. The first stopping point - Engure. There we visited an old wooden church, the pier, and the rocky shore.
If you lack the time and energy to plan a long-distance holiday and you want to break away from your familiar surroundings, the hustle of the city, and not think about anything at all, the best thing is to throw the minimum of clothing, toiletries, and food into a travel bag and set off along the Baltic Sea coast right here at home.
15.06.2008. 19:40 Ruhnu island turned out to be very small. Apart from the church and the lighthouse there is nothing else. There are seals! We spotted them from a distance. If we find a map, tomorrow we'll go to Saaremaa, then to Ventspils.
Stone piles, countless crosses and monuments, wooden and stone sculptures, inscribed or carved symbols - zodiac signs, the eye of God, the solar circle, the tree of dawn, and the like. All of this was gathered together by the sculptor and eccentric Vilius Orvidas.
We named this place the "penguinarium." In the Sea Museum's 31 aquariums one can find the most interesting of 50 freshwater and Baltic Sea fish species, as well as exotic sea dwellers.
