A story about buying a camera - a saga that stretched over two months. It all began until one day the desire arose to evaluate the video functionality as well. In terms of video quality it was satisfactory, except for an intrusive noise in one (!) of the audio channels.
Today, on the afternoon of 5 May, several hundred cyclists gathered on the Esplanāde near the Rainis Monument - on vintage and newer bikes, dressed in retro style: tweed outfits. This year the event in Riga was held for the third time. In May 2010, around 150 participants took part; last year - 400 cyclists; and this year it looks as though there were half as many again.
Museum Night this year will be dedicated to the colour blue and the sea. This begins a three-year cycle reflecting three of Latvia's treasures - the blue sea, the green forest (2013) and the red amber (2014). The three-colour harmony echoes the three-colour sun code expressed in Rainis's poetry: "The sun rises three-coloured again: Now blue, now green, now red."
There is no simple answer to what this film is really about - whether a classic love triangle, social class differences, or the witchlike mysterious nature of woman that lures men to the edge of a cliff and the unwary fall... Between the last patches of snow, green shoots push their way through; snowdrops are in full bloom, and the skies are endlessly blue above the still-frozen Little and Great Ludza lakes, above the ancient hill fort, the white Catholic church towers, and us. And by the bridge connecting the two lakes, in whose nook lies Ļucina, a pair of white swans busily goes about its business.
From 30 March to 30 April, the Spanish Cultural Centre Seneca (Elizabetes iela 18, 3rd floor) will host Alise Mediņa's painting exhibition "Andalusian Sun". Visitors are invited to see two of the most beautiful cities of Andalusia through the artist's eyes - Granada and Seville. Vivid colours, the refined architecture of Andalusia, mysterious courtyards, passionate women, horse-drawn carriages - all this and much more the artist A. Mediņa has sought to capture in her paintings. Most of the paintings were created in the authentic environment of Andalusia, mingling among the Spanish crowd, carefully observing everything around her and absorbing the atmosphere.
