To restore the only Latgalian-language radio station "Latgolys Radeja", an association "LR" has been formed and charity concerts are being organised in Riga and Latgale cities. The first such concert will take place at the Congress Centre on March 19th, 19:00–23:00. The goal is to raise donations so the station can resume broadcasting in the native language. I also invite all www.iinuu.lv visitors to stand up for the return of Latgalian-language radio!
If painting, drawing or crafting is one of your hobbies, I recommend checking out www.gleznot.lv. In my case, I was looking for tempera paint. The main criterion - not wasting time wandering around art supply shops and failing to find the right shades, tube sizes or reasonable prices. So I placed an order in this online shop. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick reply to my email, and delivery at the agreed time and place - straight to my door in the evening at no extra charge.
I recommend stopping by the lovely Vom Fass shop in the Sky&More shopping centre, where you can taste, choose and buy herb-infused oils, vinegars and alcoholic beverages. There's always a friendly sales assistant who'll chat with you, make recommendations and invite you to taste. All products are available by the litre, with specially shaped bottles of various sizes to suit each one. Some of them are true works of art. It also makes a wonderful gift idea.

If you're spending even just one night in Munich (Germany), head to the Hofbräuhaus München tavern in the evening. There you can enjoy classic German sausages or even a whole pork knuckle, a salty pretzel, and of course sip Bavarian beer from 1-litre steins carried 8–10 at a time by nimble bar staff. The massive wooden tables are struck with a loud thud after every toasted pint, calling for a refill. At any time of year, on any ordinary weeknight, you can experience the spirit of Oktoberfest.
Don't get swept up in the frenzy or add to the negativity - instead, find a way to attend one of the XXIV Latvian Song and XIV Dance Festival events! Yesterday, Saturday, while browsing online I happened to check the Biļešu Paradīze website. To my surprise, I found dress rehearsal tickets being sold for Ls1.00. We had already given up hope of making it to the Mežaparks stage this year, having heard media reports that all tickets were sold out, with apparent resale prices for the final concert reaching Ls150 and more. Well, we drove to the Biļešu Paradīze box office at Domina shopping centre and, just 2 hours before the concert, bought cheap tickets in a great spot - zone 1, sector 6.
Add something bright and fragrant to your computer too! An interesting find – scented USB 2.0 drives. Each person can choose a drive with strawberry, orange or lime fragrance. This portable little storage device works as a practical tool for moving data, a design accessory, and a witty, useful gift for a modern girl.
I would like to remind everyone that the annual Museum Night event is approaching, taking place this year on the night of May 17–18. This time it will be held within the festival „O!Germany", so most events will be dedicated to themes related to German culture and history.
You can find the Museum Night 2008 programme here: Notably, more and more museums across Riga and Latvia are taking part - and not just museums, but bookstores too.
Worth listening to - the Montreal Guitar Trio from Canada. Three musicians – Glenn Levesque, Marc Morin, Sebastien Dufour – who draw fascinating rhythms and melodies from acoustic guitars. Their music is a fusion of diverse cultures – melodies from India, South America, Spain and more. The trio's compositions serve as background music for several Hollywood films.
