For those who want to escape the city bustle and the many events taking place in Riga this weekend, and surrender to the magic of flamenco rhythm, music and dance grace - I recommend attending a concert in Spanish rhythms. On 17 August at Saules laukums in Saulkrasti, guest artists from Spain will perform - flamenco dancer Sandra Cisneros (Málaga) and master of fiery rhythms Francis Nunez. Dancers from the flamenco dance school "Duende" (Riga) will also perform. Free admission!

On 18 May 2013, with various events at Latvia's museums and exhibition halls, the three-year Museum Night cycle will continue, marking the national treasure and Rainis's three-coloured sun that rises now blue, now green, now red.
Last year's Museum Night 2012 was dedicated to the waters and the sea theme. This year forests will enter the cities and museums. Green - the colour of renewal and harmony - will dominate. On Museum Night all museums are open well past midnight. Admission to museums during the event is free.

Join us for the Great Sarkandaugava Clean-Up on Saturday, 27 April at 10:00, opposite the entrance to the Psychoneurological Hospital on the other side of the street, bringing rakes and other tools (pliers, small hand saws etc.)! Participants will be provided with work gloves.
The clean-up will take place along the banks of the old Sarkandaugava river channel, starting from Sarkandaugava Bridge along Tvaika iela. This is a beautiful but particularly polluted spot in the neighbourhood. During the clean-up it is planned to tidy the area along the water, collect litter, and thin out overgrown bushes that obscure the view of the water. Meanwhile on Tvaika iela near the bus stop, an experimental garden will be created, planted with annual and perennial plants - wheat, lupins and sunflowers - which have unique properties for purifying contaminated soil.
