Snowflakes from Beads

The bead weaving technique is rewarding for making various small items. It is particularly well-suited to children's small and nimble fingers. As the question of how to decorate the Christmas tree is always relevant, I suggest making a snowflake to hang on a branch.

The bead weaving technique is rewarding for making various small items. It is particularly well-suited to children's small and nimble fingers. As the question of how to decorate the Christmas tree is always relevant, I suggest making a snowflake to hang on a branch.

To make a snowflake you will need:

• white and light blue glass beads;

• approximately 1m of thin metallic wire or fishing line.

Thread the beads onto the wire in the sequence shown in the diagram (see below), starting from the end indicated by the arrow. The snowflake can have six rays as shown in the diagram, or for a fuller appearance, as many as ten branches. Close off the last branch with a knot and a loop so the snowflake can be hung.

A few more creations made using the bead weaving technique. Many thanks to Antra for the inspiration! ;)
