Pedvāle - the Stone's Invitation
Up on the hill remained ... no, no, those are not just television sets, but... "Object MUNAMUNA, accidentally fallen in Pedvāle." I thought of Latvia, but perhaps of butterflies - young, fresh and free as in Ziedonis's poetry. Well, perhaps slightly petrified...
Autumn is, in my view, the best season to visit the Pedvāle Open-Air Art Museum (
www.pedvale.lv ). On a sunny Saturday or Sunday morning along the A10 highway, past Tukums, through Kandava to Sabile, near which Pedvāle is located. The museum has been open since 1991, thanks to sculptor Ojārs Arvīds Feldbergs. It is situated in the ancient Abava valley and encompasses the former manor buildings of Firkspedvāle and Briņķpedvāle and a 100-hectare territory.

At dates significant to us, by the "Calendar" (Laura Feldberga, Latvia).
To reach the world of Pedvāle's art objects, one must pass through the Black Hole, see below.

"Black Hole" (Ojārs Feldbergs, Latvia)
We have visited Pedvāle on two autumns - in October 2006 and September 2008 - and each time returned to the city rested in body and spirit. A place for walks, reflection, and observation - of Latvia's almost untouched nature, art installations, and oneself.

"Iron Lake" (Ken Payne, Carl Billingslay, USA) and
"Sowing in a Field (John ev.12:24)" (Dins Kopštāls, Latvia)

On the "Path" (Kārlis Alainis, Latvia) 2008 and 2006
And then we descended into the ravine ...

... and there, "Mushrooms" (Lea Turto, Finland) and mushrooms (Latvia).
Up on the hill remained ... no, no, those are not just television sets, but ...

"Object MUNAMUNA, accidentally fallen in Pedvāle" (Villu Jaanisoo, Estonia/Finland)
I thought of Latvia, but perhaps of butterflies - young, fresh and free as in Ziedonis's poetry. Well, perhaps slightly petrified ...

That "Butterfly" (Kārlis Alainis, Latvia).
The little river Rambulīte refreshed the travellers' tired feet and its bubbling waters gladdened the ears, even though it counts everything in our lives just as everything is counted so that a bill can be presented later.

"Water Meter" (Dins Kopštāls, Latvia).
Further on a little mathematics - "8-1=7", "8-3=5", "8-4=4" etc., all of it by Ojārs Feldbergs (Latvia), see below.

How about a solid stamping of one weighty document?

I merely ask and observe from the undergrowth, even though my thoughts are already ...

... in the "Wind's Nest" (Indulis Kalniņš, Latvia).
I entered and discovered another world, the world created by artist Ojārs Feldbergs.

"The Moon Has Lain Down in the Lake" and the old manor rooms are inhabited by "Snowstorm," "Light," "Rain Cloud" ...

I simply hid in the LIGHT.

One must be careful, otherwise one might catch ...

... a "Light Infarction" (Andris Vītoliņš, Latvia).
There are days when the world becomes so enormous that one feels like a tiny, defenceless mite, like a Lilliputian in a world of giants.

In the first image, "Heavenly Chair" (Villu Jaanisoo, Estonia).
Other times one can do everything, is capable and does. Can lift any load, turn the world upside down ...

But there are days when one wishes only to dream with open eyes of other realities ...

"Some Day I Will Also Be a Beautiful Girl" (Teemu Maenpaa, Finland) and
"In a Café" (Marina Fyodorova, Russia).
