TI AMO (I Love You) - The 1977 Hit

On the eve of Valentine's Day, a little retro and love. Italian musician Umberto Tozzi's song "Ti amo" - "I love you" - literally enchanted all of Europe and far beyond its borders in 1977. The song was released alongside the others on the album "È nell'aria...ti amo", and the phenomenon of its popularity is remarkable.

The song reached first position in hit charts in almost every country, including Switzerland and Sweden. As a result it was translated and performed in several languages. In Spain and Latin America its Spanish version "Te amo" was heard. In Germany it reached 2nd place among the most frequently performed songs, while in Austria a solid 10th place. The French-language version of the song, performed by the most popular French singer of that time, Dalida, held a place in the top three in France and Belgium for a good while.

A few years later in 1984, an English-language version of the song was also recorded, which in turn became a hit in Australia. Below is my free translation from this version:
