A headline that warms the heart appeared in the media today - "Latvia's Most Popular Blog - iinuu.lv." We are delighted and gratified that our blog www.iinuu.lv has taken first place in the Gemius blog rankings by visits, based on unique Latvian user statistics for November 2012. 1.32% of all of Latvia's internet audience is not such an insignificant number.

Reflecting on what has been achieved, everything is essentially founded on three simple but important things.

First, this is not only a hobby or pastime, but also systematic and persistent work, to which since April 2008 we have joyfully and with firm resolve devoted a considerable amount of our free time, energy and resources. We have rethought the blog's appearance and usability, changed the design twice, added new sections, and promoted it on social networks Twitter, Facebook, Draugiem.lv, Google+, Sekoman, as well as video channels YouTube and Vimeo.

Second, in attracting an audience we have always thought about quality rather than quantity - which is why we don't have thousands of followers on social networks, only a few hundred; but they are regular blog readers who have connected with the topics covered in the posts.

Third, we have committed to and follow one guiding principle - to write about what personally seems important in the flow of daily life, rather than gushing about fashionable things, promoting various gadgets, trends and top lists.

Speaking of the subject matter at www.iinuu.lv, it is as varied and colourful as life itself. I mostly write about human psychology, nature, travel within Latvia and near or distant countries, music, dance (especially flamenco, which I have been practising for over three and a half years), wine appreciation courses we have attended together, discovering new taste and aroma bouquets, various concerts, performances, exhibitions and art projects I have attended, books I have read and films I have watched, things I have made with my own hands - paintings and photographs. Ēriks writes his reflections on processes in Latvian politics, economics and social life, advocates for an orderly urban environment, and also has his own subsection "IT Guru," where articles on various IT topics are written.

If it has to be summed up in a few words - what www.iinuu.lv is about - it is about wisdom and joy of living. That is to say, we share our thoughts, observations, knowledge, practical advice and ideas, and express our joy, excitement, surprise, indignation, and tell about various emotional experiences and pleasures.

Thank you to all iinuu.lv fans and well-wishers! ;)
