What is set out below is merely part of my thinking process. These are not finalised thoughts. They have no other purpose than to allow me to become aware, to explore and to understand certain patterns which are not at first glance obvious and comprehensible to me, due to my insufficient knowledge in jurisprudence and international law or for some other well-founded reason.
Here is another destination about 100 km from Rīga for a weekend trip - as a couple, with friends, or with family. Rauna is a small, quiet, well-kept little town whose centre is marked by the junction of its three main streets - Vidzemes, Rīgas, and Cēsu - and a park with attractions. In and around Rauna we visited four noteworthy places.
The question of how to reach your target audience most precisely and effectively has always occupied the minds of internet marketing specialists - the greatest result with the fewest resources. So I decided to compile information I had read and heard from various sources about the best, most productive times for posting images, updates, and news on each social network.
On a Sunday afternoon we decided with friends to take a loop through Vidzeme and stop at two long-planned destinations. This time to the Amata municipality near Cēsis - the ancient Latgalian lands, one might say. Perhaps this will inspire someone to get in the car next weekend and go exploring Latvia right here at home.
On Thursday evening, in the courtyard of the Tex-Mex restaurant on Dzirnavu Street, we attended the opening concert of the International Roma Culture Festival. During the evening, the Roma ensemble AME-ROMA performed popular melodies from Soviet-era films about Romani life - "The Gypsy Camp Vanishes into the Sky" (1976) and "A Cruel Romance" (1984) - as well as Russian romances such as "Очи чёрные".
This recipe was conveniently spotted on a news portal and put into practice with a small modification on my part. That evening the whole kitchen smelled of rosemary. The dish turned out filling and self-sufficient, needing nothing but a few tomato wedges to accompany it.
If you are an entrepreneur whose head is overflowing with ideas about how to be different and offer something outstandingly good to your clients, then you are not alone. Ideas come easily when you love your work and your company. If you are a professional in your field, execution should be no problem either. But the hardest thing is to define your message to your target audience.
Over the Midsummer holiday weekend we visited Mum in Ludza - currently the best-kept of all the towns in Latgale, where even on Līgo and Jāņi, unlike the rest of Latvia, the sun shone and it was pleasantly warm. Of course there was no getting by without a proper feast of the kind characteristic of Latvians and Latgalians in particular - smoked fish, shashlik, beer, and blueberry muffins.
In truth, I was more interested in the personality of this legendary woman - she, at 92 years of age, had crossed the ocean, flying from America to Riga to meet with dancers in Latvia. Still supple and sprightly enough. Another insight I took away particularly for myself: if you're meeting a legend, don't expect anything superhuman, or disappointment will follow.
For example, sexual intercourse between a woman and a man in the missionary position is normal. Oral sex is not normal. Swinging, on the other hand, is rather abnormal. Same-sex relationships are completely abnormal.
