2nd Exotic Dance Festival "Magic Carpet"
For the second year running, the exotic dance festival was held at the Madona Culture House. The concert consisted of modern belly dance performances with certain show elements, khaleeji, saidi, and oriental. Šarma had taken care to include the Hawaiian dance style in the programme. However, compared to last year, a certain uniformity was noticeable; Indian dances, tribal dance, and Andalusian dance rhythms were lacking.
For the second year running, the exotic dance festival was held at the Madona Culture House, this time on 8 August from 15:00 to 20:00. The festival brought together dance groups from across Latvia - "Mantigra" (Madona, Lubāna), "Malika" (Daugavpils), "Inda" (Jēkabpils), "Dana" (Madona), "Alfi Leila va Leila" (Madona), "Zafira" (Riga), and others.
Several groups had not come, so the concert shifted somewhat in terms of timing - it ended earlier.
The belly dancers' magnificent costumes are a real feast for the eyes - bought or sewn themselves. So during the interval between the first and second parts of the concert, a costume parade was organised for the audience's delight. It was a shame that not all the dancers were willing to participate, and only a few of them took part.
A photo gallery and video will tell you more about this event.
